Tenho descoberto, nos últimos anos, como é fascinante visitar cidades sem sabermos nada sobre elas. Sem sequer termos visto uma fotografia. Se, para mim, era impensável viajar sem antes já ter "viajado" através de guias e internet, sabendo tudo ainda antes de sair de Portugal, agora percebo que também é interessante esta sensação de chegar a um local e ser tudo novo e desconhecido.

Tal como se na nossa mente o destino se assemelhasse a uma tela em branco, a qual vamos pintando à medida que vamos conhecendo o local.

Foi o que me aconteceu com Stavanger. Não estudei a cidade com antecedência, nem sabia o que ia ver. Julgava apenas que deveria ser uma cidade bonita.

E tinha razão. Stavanger, a capital Norueguesa do petróleo, e a cidade com o menor índice de desemprego em toda a Europa (in Wikipédia) revelou-se em todo o seu esplendor como uma cidade extremamente bonita e bem conservada, cheia de vida, porém, ao mesmo tempo, muito tranquila.

O grande destaque da cidade vai para a sua parte antiga, Gamle Stavanger, onde se encontra o mais bem-preservado bairro de casas de madeira antigas da Europa.

As casas são todas maravilhosas, as ruas floridas e tranquilas, e surge, novamente, aquela sensação de que poderia perfeitamente viver ali.

Gamle Stavanger foi, provavelmente, o bairro mais bonito e charmoso que já visitei.

O ponto alto é, portanto, Gamle Stavanger, mas importa não esquecer a parte nova da cidade, onde não faltam as típicas casas de madeira.

Bonita, tranquila e bem conservada, Stavanger revelou ser uma agradável surpresa.

Stavanger

I have discovered, in recent years, as it is fascinating to visit cities without knowing anything about them. Without even having seen a photograph. If, for me, it was unthinkable to travel without first having already "traveled" through guides and internet, knowing everything even before leaving Portugal, now I realize that this feeling is also interesting, to get to a place and be all new and unknown.

As if in our mind the destination resembles a blank canvas, which we'll painting as we know the place.

That's what happened to me with Stavanger. I have not studied the city in advance, nor knew what was going to see. Just thought it should be a beautiful city.

And I was right. Stavanger, the Norwegian oil capital, and the city with the lowest unemployment rate in Europe (in Wikipedia) revealed in all its splendor as a extremely beautiful city and well preserved, full of life, but, at the same time, very quiet.

The highlight of the city goes to the old town, Gamle Stavanger, which is home to Europe's best-preserved collection of old wooden houses.

The houses are all wonderful, the streets flowery and quiet, and arises, again, that feeling that I could totally live there.

Gamle Stavanger was probably the most beautiful and charming neighborhood I have ever visited.

The highlight is therefore Gamle Stavanger, but we should not forget the new town, where there are also beautiful typical wooden houses.

Beautiful, quiet and well preserved, Stavanger proved to be a pleasant surprise.
